“After a four-year breakup, I reunited with X in June 2020.
For a year, I believed in this mythical reunion, only to discover that I had trusted a mythomaniac.
This tragic love story presents in a chronological narrative the 13 months of this second relationship with X. Next to hundreds of candid and spontaneous phone images, is the transcript of the phone conversation that changed my life: the call during which I discovered X's double life.
In order to be as close to the truth as possible, while continuing to explore auto-fiction, I re-enacted with a look-alike of X the said hundreds of candid lovers pictures, from the year spent with him. So what you see, are actually replayed moments, where I positioned inch to inch my hired and paid model, in all the original locations.
As the viewer goes through "perfect couple" facade images, there is the text, next to it: the transcription of the 7 minutes phone call between me and 'the other woman'. This is a conversation that happened in real life, and as horrifying is its content, as beautiful is the instant trust and sorority between us. This piece of text is crucial to the series, as it balances out the fake prettiness of the images and opens the curtains to what's really going on behind those perfect pictures.
Another Love Story is a testimony to both the feeling of dispossession that can overwhelm us after a break-up, but also to our ability to overcome this turmoil. This is not a love story.
